Casual Team Leader Nights

Job Introduction


Hours:  This is a casual contract - there are no set hours - you will be asked to work as and when needed including weekends and bank holidays.  

 

Your new role

Harry Sotnick House is a dementia nursing home in Portsmouth. We provide safe, compassionate and person-centred care for people with complex care and support needs. 

Our staff work together across the home to provide consistent, responsive care throughout the day and night. The service is supported by colleagues from a range of disciplines who share a commitment to residents’ safety, dignity and wellbeing.

You will work as part of the Safe at Home Night Responder team, providing confident and compassionate leadership during night shifts.  Leading staff you will deliver a responsive, needs-led service for people living with dementia taking responsibility for the safe and effective operation between 9.00pm - 6.00am.  . 

You will lead a shift, deploy staff appropriately and support safe, effective service delivery.  You will promote independence through person-centred care planning, provide direct hands-on care when required, support the development of junior team members and liaise professionally with health colleagues and other involved professionals.

Who is the person summary:

With previous senior carer/team leader experience you will be able to lead care staff and complete operational tasks required to keep the service safe, effective and well led. You will be responsible for meeting the needs of the service users needs throughout the night and be able to administer medication safely as required.  

 

You will be able to lead a shift working collaboratively and ensuring staff are deployed where and when required.   You will promote independence through person centred care planning whilst being willing to deliver some direct hands-on care to support the service users and the team.  

 

You will report and escalate concerns including, accidents or incidents following your initial fact finding and recording so any investigations/actions can be addressed as appropriate.  While responsible for the home at night, you will demonstrate a calm approach and effective problem-solving skills in an emergency.   You will take any immediate action required, complete appropriate records and provide a clear handover.  Out of hours, you will need to demonstrate you can be responsible for the safety of the service including the building.
