Revenues Inspector 

Salary: Band: 6, £27,363 - £31,067

37 hours per week     

Do you have experience of working within a busy customer facing environment?  We have a great opportunity to join our Revenues and Benefits team which provide customer and financial services to the residents and business of Portsmouth.        

Your New Role

As a Revenues Inspector you will work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the accuracy of entries in the valuation list and rating list.  You will identify changes, omissions and additions to be notified to the Valuation Office Agency. Working proactively you will ensure all chargeable properties within the city are identified and billed in a timely manner.  The role will also involve monitoring newly developed properties, compiling information to support the service of completion notices and reporting to the Valuation Office Agency in a timely manner.  You will utilise records held in other areas of the council to identify properties that have been altered or approved for development and collaborate with colleagues to report changes to properties.

What you'll need to succeed 

With excellent communication, organisational and customer service skills you will have a high attention to detail and the ability to work independently.  Experience of lone working would be advantageous as you will spend large period of time working away from the office.  You will have good negotiation skills and a knowledge of council tax and non-domestic rate administration or experience in a similar role.   Use of a car for travel across the city is advantageous.
