Your new role
Are you someone who enjoys being active, working outdoors, and making a positive difference in the community? If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
This varied and hands-on role is ideal for someone who thrives outside of a traditional office environment. No two days are the same, as you'll combine practical maintenance and carpentry skills with delivering excellent customer service across some of Portsmouth's most valued public spaces.
You will be playing an important role in ensuring residents and visitors enjoy safe, welcoming, and well-maintained facilities. You will regularly interact with members of the public, responding to enquiries both in person and over the telephone, and providing a friendly and professional service at all times.
Working across Portsmouth's seafront, parks, play areas, and other council facilities, you'll travel between locations carrying out a wide range of operational, maintenance, and support tasks. This includes supporting splash pool operations, assisting with events, conducting inspections, and carrying out repairs to help keep our facilities running smoothly and looking their best.
The role requires someone who is physically active and comfortable lifting and moving equipment as part of their daily duties. If you're practical, customer-focused, and enjoy a role where every day brings new challenges, we'd love to hear from you.
Who is the person summary:
With strong customer service and communication skills, you will have a full clean driving licence and the ability to drive a large vehicle. You will have practical carpentry, maintenance and repair skills and be physically capable of lifting and moving equipment. Flexible and adaptable you will have experience of working with the general public and be able to use your initiative with good problem solving skills. An STA Level 3 in Pool Plant Operations is desirable although training will be provided if required.
