Visitor Services Officer - Casual

Salary: Band: 5, approximately £14.00 per hour

Hours: This is a casual post - there are no set hours - you will be asked to work as and when needed including weekends and bank holidays.

What is the role?  

Based at the Visitor Information Point in the Hard Bus Station, you will manage the service on days worked, ensuring high standards of customer care and that visitors enjoy a great day out.  Welcoming visitors and providing visitor information about Portsmouth, you will follow Health and safety procedures and guidelines relating to the evacuation of buildings.  You will sell tickets and guides and retail items and collect statistics, postcodes and other information as required.  

The Visitor Services Officers function as the Duty Manager daily, working alone to manage the Information Point.

Who is the person?

You will have an excellent knowledge of Portsmouth as a tourism destination as well as a commitment to delivering high standards of customer care.  With good knowledge of health and safety procedures you will have experience of cash handling and balancing tills in a retail environment.  You will have excellent communication skills and a conversational language skill in another language would be an advantage.  Self-motivated, flexible and adaptable you will have excellent literacy and numerical skills and good IT.
